There Are Several “Injectables” but We Will Advise the Correct One for You

“Injectables” is an umbrella term for a range of products that can be used to improve skin condition by being injected. One of the best known of these, of course, is Botox, but there are also several others. Skin injectables in Foster CityAt Silicon Valley Aesthetic Dermatology, we provide a range of different skin injectables in Foster City so that we are always able to select the most appropriate one for your individual skin condition. Injectables can work in different ways. Not everyone has the same type or condition of skin, so it is a question of providing the right solution for each client.

For instance, Botox works by blocking certain chemical signals from the nerves, mostly signals that cause the muscles to contract. It is FDA approved and is used to correct severe frown lines, forehead lines, and crows’ feet in adults. Botox injections require a thin needle to inject tiny amounts of the product into your skin or muscles.

The number of injections needed depends on many factors, including the extent of the area being treated. They begin to work between one to three days after the treatment and, depending upon the issue, can last for three months or even longer. You will need follow-up injections in order to keep the effect going.

Replacing Hyaluronic Acid

Our skin injectables in Foster City also include Juvederm. Over time, the skin begins to lose elasticity as the body gradually produces less hyaluronic acid. This means that wrinkles and lines develop around the nose and mouth. By injecting Juvederm, it will replace the hyaluronic acid, thus adding volume to the skin. Juvederm®XC can last for up to a year, while Juvederm Vollure™XC can smooth out those lines and wrinkles for as much as 18 months.

If you suffer from submental fullness – otherwise known as double chin – the most appropriate treatment would likely be Kybella®. This is administered as a series of injections and what it does is to gradually reduce the fat cells. The number of treatments that you need will depend on the amount of fat under the chin and your treatment goals.

Another treatment is Radiesse®. This is a dermal filler and is used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds – the creases that run from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth. It can also be used to treat loss of volume in the back of the hands. What it does is to stimulate the growth of collagen. This is the main structural protein in the skin and is what helps it keep tight. As we age, the production of collagen decreases, and that is what causes the skin to sag. By promoting the growth of collagen, those wrinkles and folds will disappear.

We also use other skin injectables in Foster City, so we can advise the most appropriate for your individual problem.
