Not Everyone’s Skin Is the Same. Older Women Have Different Needs

When it comes to skincare, no two people’s requirements are exactly the same. So, for example, we know that skincare for older women will often require a different approach from those who are younger. This is why, at Silicon Valley Aesthetic Dermatology, we have a wide range of different treatments available in order that we can cater for anyone, regardless of their skin type and condition.

For instance, women over 40 may well have suffered from spending too long in the sun in their younger days. That is not a criticism but merely an acknowledgment that in years gone by, we didn’t really understand as well as we do today what damage the sun can do to the skin. Many of us lazed about in the sun all day and every day on holiday, especially at midday when the sun is at its strongest. Today, we know better.

So, skincare for older women may require laser skin rejuvenation, for instance. This therapy uses a laser that can remove layers of damaged skin one layer at a time with absolute precision. What then happens is that new skin cells will form to replace the old skin during the healing process and as they do, will produce a tighter, younger-looking surface.

A Laser Can Be Used for Other Procedures Too

We can use a laser for other procedures as well. For instance, many people have hair growing where they do not want it, and a laser can remove unwanted hairs with precision as well. Believe it or not, we can today also use a laser to remove tattoos. Older women may also suffer from wrinkles around the eyes and on the forehead, and a laser can be used to handle those as well. However, it may well be the case that an injectable such as Botox or Juvederm would be a better way of approaching the situation. As we said, every person’s skin is different, so although two people may have the same condition – wrinkles for instance – the correct treatment could well be different.
