We Don’t Overdo It With Botox Treatments

There are plenty of clinics around the San Mateo area offering Botox treatments. In fact, the popular filler is regularly used by men and women along the San Francisco Peninsula. Botox procedure in San Mateo, Burlingame, and Foster CityA client will walk into a clinic believing “more is better,” asking for extra filler than the clinician might want to provide. In those situations, some clinics may adopt the philosophy that “the customer is always right.” They don’t want to upset a patient, so the clinician ignores their concerns and do as they are instructed. What’s the most common result? Frozen faces and duck lips!

First, let’s talk about the ‘frozen face’ appearance from misusing Botox. Clinic visitors may want to erase the lines on their foreheads and around their mouths, but they still want to show emotion on their faces. Botox is a botulinum toxin type A. It blocks the nerve signals to the muscles. The amount and application are crucial factors to consider before proceeding. When a client pushes for more than the recommended amount of Botox on their forehead, they can end up with a robot-like demeanor. And a ‘frozen’ brow can be a problem in social situations. A post from Neuroscience News explains how important facial expressions are to non-verbal communication. And the forehead can tell much to others about what a person thinks and feels.

If someone is ready to plump up thinning lips, they might find Botox the right filler. However, if the filler is misused, it can cause a less-than-natural look to their face. Over-injecting Botox can cause the infamous “duck lips” we notice on social media. It could be fun to take a photo of overly puffy lips in a picture, but most people don’t want to walk around looking like that all day long!

Again, the misuse of Botox can lead to unfavorable results. And sure, over time, it will dissipate, but how long does a client expect to wait until they look normal again?

Don’t Allow a Botox Novice To Steer Your Face in the Wrong Direction

Let’s get to the point, there are plenty of Botox clinics around San Mateo ready to help provide the service. And while some do a fine job, others have new staff with less experience around the filler. They may be too eager to please their new clients and agree to administer more than is necessary. Or inject in the wrong spots.

A top skincare professional knows to be selective about where to inject Botox and how much should be injected in a specific area. Our clinic team understands overdosing doesn’t make someone “look better for longer.” It only creates a period where the client’s face looks unnatural and overdone. And this is not the goal of any expert skincare clinician!

There may be times when San Mateo locals speak to us about Botox. And they might have their own idea of what they need. Our goal is to not only meet their expectations but to exceed them. And that includes being honest about how specific doses can impact their appearance. We know people want to look better. They also want to look natural. Avoiding duck lips and frozen faces is key to getting a client the look they will be pleased with.
