Foster City (Pop. 34,000) Is Not Huge, but It Is Our Hometown, and We Love It

Foster City is not a big city, but at Silicon Valley Aesthetic Dermatology it is our home, and we love it. There are lots of things to see and do here, including the crown jewel, which is the lagoon with extensive water ways, walkways, and other recreational facilities. There are 16.5 miles of navigable canals weaving around man-made residential islands, over 212 acres of water averaging 6 feet deep.

The lagoon has a lovely boardwalk and paved trails for hiking and biking, and if you are a serious athlete, you can hike and bike along the San Francisco Bay Trail for miles: it is only a few blocks away.

The weather and the water conditions on the lagoon are perfect for learning how to windsurf, yet it is only 30 minutes from San Francisco. Indeed, it is only 30 minutes from just about anywhere in the Bay Area. You can rent paddle boards, kayaks, hydro bikes, and paddleboats, and you can even rent an electric boat for the whole family – up to 8 people.

There are lots of things going on at the lagoon in the summer including the Fourth of July festival with a big firework display. There are also Dragon Boat races with up to 20 paddlers, and rowing regattas with as many as 360 crews taking part in a day. We also have an Arts and Wine Festival and there is a free summer concert series at the amphitheater on the shore.

A Dog Park and Bird Watching

In addition, there is a lovely dog park and there are plenty of places to sit and have a family picnic. It is also a great place to watch the birds.

Foster City also has a recreation center with tennis courts, a basketball court, and even a skateboard park. The city has no less than 21 parks, and has a lot of restaurants, especially Asian ones. One of our favorites is the Hot Wok Cafe. For hair transplants, of course, we recommend the Silicon Valley Hair Institute. In addition, there are plenty of shopping centers as well.
