Botox is probably the most well-known brand of injectables in skin care. Nearly everyone has heard of it, and it has some undeserved stereotypes. But it’s just a tool – a tool to improve your skin. You may be considering Botox in San Mateo, but it may, or may not, be the right treatment for your particular condition.
The simple fact is that we all age, and as we get older our skin starts to sag and we get wrinkles. However, each person is unique, and therefore the way to treat your problem with wrinkles may be Botox in San Mateo, but then again, it may not. There are several other cosmetic injectables which we can use, and one of the advantages of our team at Silicon Valley Aesthetic Dermatology is that we are “vendor neutral”. That means that we don’t promote a particular brand, but instead use the treatment that is right for your individual condition.
Furthermore, the right treatment may not be any type of cosmetic injectable. It could be laser skin care, it might be ultherapy, or it could be a facial. And until our Dr Miguel Canales has had a chance to inspect your skin close-up and assess your individual condition, we cannot tell you what we would suggest.
Laser Skin Treatment
The way that laser skin care works is by removing the skin layer by layer. What then happens is that new skin grows and the new skin cells that form will give your skin a tighter and more youthful looking appearance. These are known as ablative lasers, and there are two different types. One of them can be used to remove scars, warts, and deep wrinkles, while the other is used for finer wrinkles.
However, there are also non-ablative lasers, and these do not remove any skin at all. These may be used for rosacea, spider veins, and acne-related skin conditions. Another possible answer for your skin problems is microdermabrasion which can improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, age spots, and sun damage.
Then there is ultherapy which uses ultrasound in order to tighten the collagen under your skin, thus improving the appearance. This is an FDA approved treatment that can lift the skin on your neck, under your chin, and on the eyebrow.
When it comes to injectables, there is, of course, Botox in San Mateo, but there are several others which may be a better choice for your individual situation.
You can see why we say that there is no one treatment that is the best for everyone, and why we need to examine your skin in order to suggest the right way forward. Our Dr Canales is happy to provide you with a free consultation at which he can answer all your questions and propose the right course of treatment in your particular case.
