The skincare industry is big business and it’s expected to grow world-wide to $222 billion by 2030. Americans are very skincare-conscious, at least 46% follow a daily routine with several products.
And it appears Gen Z is a growing demographic with 58% buying skincare products every month. It’s no surprise that over-the-counter skincare products are added to the market every year. In our multicultural country, there are lots of different skin types. A product might bring great results for one person and do nothing for another. Or a product could exacerbate a skin problem in an individual’s specific situation!
Sometimes a Bay Area local, perhaps a resident in Foster City, San Mateo, or nearby Burlingame, might think it’s cheaper to buy over-the-counter, but those purchases add up. And the question becomes, are you getting your money’s worth? Or finding no changes to your skin problem while your bank account depletes? It may be time to visit a skin care clinic.
Visiting a professional skincare clinic is worth the investment! And here’s why:
- First, you meet with a dermatological professional in a personal consultation where the skin condition is thoroughly evaluated.
 - Several treatments can be recommended to achieve the best results, such as ULTherapy, Laser Skin Resurfacing, or the HALO procedure. Each treatment is explained how it works and why it’s a good option for you.
 - Once you’ve decided the best direction to take, we schedule the procedure. After a treatment, our clinic team follows up to see if how you are doing and if you have questions.

Is HALO the Right Answer for Everyone?
Modern laser skin technology is as diverse as our Bay Area multi-cultural population. HALO is only one type of laser and it might not be the right answer for everyone. But the HALO procedure is certainly suitable for specific problems. For example, it does an excellent job of shrinking large pores. Large pores are a problem for people with oily skin. They can struggle to control the excessive oil that builds up dirt and creates infections. It’s also aesthetically embarrassing! The HALO laser targets both the surface and deeper layers of the skin to shrink pores from the inside out. This happens because the laser has two components:
Ablative: Removing the top layers of damaged skin, including lines and bumps.
Non-Ablative: Going deep under the skin to penetrate the ‘root’ of the problem. This process helps stimulate healthy collagen and elastin production. The result is smoothing the surface of the skin and regenerating it underneath. Although lasers penetrates the skin, they are considered non-surgical procedures. RealSelf posted an informative article on the non-surgical benefits of the HALO laser procedure.
HALO is a “fractional laser” meaning it breaks light into smaller beams focusing on the problem area and leaves the surrounding healthy skin intact. Because a HALO laser only pinpoints the damaged area, it’s also great for fine lines in sensitive places like the mouth and around the eyes. It’s also a great option for skin suffering from sun damage. It will fade away brown spots, dry patches and uneven skin tone.
But HALO isn’t always the right choice for someone. Someone might do better with a UPL/BBL Photofacial or ULTherapy. If you’re ready to leave the ’empty promises’ of over-the-counter skincare, contact us for a consultation. We love what our lasers can do and are ready to show you!
